Chiropractor Near Frenchtown and Downtown Charlotte Amalie

Frenchtown and downtown Charlotte Amalie are the closest neighborhoods on St. Thomas to our office, and most people are surprised how short the trip is. Tradewinds Chiropractic & Wellness is in the VI Medical Foundation Building, Suite 202, 9150 Estate Thomas, St. Thomas, USVI 00802. That is a short drive east of downtown, on the same side of the harbor as Havensight, close enough that a visit fits into a lunch break for a lot of people who work in town.

Where we sit relative to Frenchtown and downtown

Picture the harbor. Frenchtown is on the western side of it, out past the waterfront on the point. Downtown Charlotte Amalie, with Main Street, Emancipation Garden and the shops, is the middle. Estate Thomas is the eastern end, past downtown, in the medical and light commercial stretch that runs toward Havensight. So the trip from either neighborhood goes one direction: east along the harbor, then a turn inland to the building.

We are not downtown proper. There is no chiropractic office in the Main Street shopping district or in Frenchtown itself. What you get instead is an office close to both and outside the part of town that is hardest to drive in and park in.

The drive from Frenchtown

From Frenchtown the route runs back off the point, onto the waterfront road, and east along the harbor past downtown. It is a short drive under ordinary conditions and a longer one on a heavy cruise day, when the waterfront backs up and everything through town slows with it. If two or three ships are in, leave earlier than you think you need to. People who live here already plan around that.

Nothing about the route is tricky. It is one road along the water for most of the way, and the turn inland comes after downtown, not before it. Estate Thomas comes up before the Havensight stretch, so if you reach the cruise dock area you have gone a little too far east.

Coming from downtown, and why parking is easier out here

If you are downtown already, on foot, working or running errands, the honest answer is that this is a drive and not a walk. We would not send anyone whose back, neck or leg is the reason for the appointment on that walk. Take a car or a taxi.

The trade is worth it at the other end. You are not hunting for a spot on Main Street or in the lots behind the waterfront. The office is in a professional medical building outside the downtown grid, which is why a number of our patients who work in town would rather drive out here than wedge an appointment into a downtown errand.

If you work downtown or in Frenchtown

The Tuesday and Friday schedule runs 7:00 am to 2:00 pm straight through with no midday break, which suits people who want to be seen before a work day starts. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday run 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, so there is an evening block for anyone who cannot leave a shop, an office or a restaurant in the middle of the day.

That matters more in this part of the island than most. Downtown and Frenchtown are full of jobs that keep people standing: retail on Main Street, restaurant and bar work, government offices, marine and dock work along the waterfront. What those patients come in with is usually low back pain from a full day on their feet, neck and upper back pain from a desk, or shoulder trouble from lifting. See lower back pain and neck pain.

What the first visit is

A first visit is a history and a hands-on exam, with digital x-ray taken on site when the exam calls for it and reviewed with you the same day. Dr. Keys is the Chair of the Virgin Islands Board of Chiropractic Examiners, a member of the Virgin Islands Chiropractic Society, and the International Chiropractors Association representative for the U.S. Virgin Islands. The clinic has been in this building since it opened in April 2018, in the recovery after Hurricanes Irma and Maria. A full walkthrough is at what to expect on a first visit, forms you can fill out ahead of time are at new patient forms, and the full service list is on the services page.

When to go somewhere else instead

Being close is not a reason to come here first with everything. Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 for loss of bowel or bladder control, numbness in the saddle area, weakness in a leg or arm that is getting worse, fever along with spine pain, or pain right after a serious fall or crash.

Questions patients ask

Is there a chiropractor near Frenchtown, St. Thomas?

Not in Frenchtown itself. Tradewinds Chiropractic & Wellness is the closest option, a short drive east along the harbor and past downtown, in the VI Medical Foundation Building, Suite 202, 9150 Estate Thomas. Call (340) 690-4994 to book.

Where is the closest chiropractor to downtown Charlotte Amalie?

Tradewinds Chiropractic is in Estate Thomas, just east of downtown, on the same side of the harbor as Havensight. There is no chiropractic office in the Main Street shopping district, so this is the nearest one to the downtown core.

Can I walk to your office from downtown?

We would not recommend it, especially if pain is the reason you are coming in. Downtown to Estate Thomas is a drive. A car or a taxi is the practical way to get here, and parking is easier at this end than it is downtown.

How long does the drive from Frenchtown or downtown take?

It is short on an ordinary day and noticeably longer when several cruise ships are in and the waterfront backs up. Plan extra time on a busy port day rather than counting on a fixed number of minutes.

I work downtown. Can I come in before my shift?

Often, yes. Tuesday and Friday run 7:00 am to 2:00 pm with no midday break, and Monday, Wednesday and Thursday have an evening block until 7:00 pm. Call (340) 690-4994 and tell us your shift so we can find a slot that works.
