Directions From the Cruise Port to Tradewinds Chiropractic

If your ship is tied up at Havensight, Crown Bay, or Yacht Haven Grande and your back, neck or shoulder is telling you this is not a walking-the-hills-of-town day, this page gets you from the dock to our door. Tradewinds Chiropractic & Wellness is in the VI Medical Foundation Building, Suite 202, 9150 Estate Thomas, St. Thomas, USVI 00802, in Estate Thomas just east of Charlotte Amalie.

What this page covers, and what it does not

This page is about getting here, not about whether you should come. If you are trying to decide whether a chiropractic visit makes sense for a back that gave out on vacation, read hurt your back on vacation first. This page assumes you already know you want to be seen and just need to know how to get from the ship to the office.

Getting here from each dock

From Havensight. The Havensight dock is the closest cruise berth to our office, on the same side of Charlotte Amalie. A taxi from the dock is the simplest way to get here. Tell the driver you are headed to the VI Medical Foundation Building on Estate Thomas. The ride is short, about five to ten minutes in normal traffic and longer on a day when several ships are in.

From Yacht Haven Grande. Yacht Haven Grande sits right next to Havensight, and the trip to our office is about the same short taxi ride. Taxis line up along the marina walkway.

From Crown Bay. Crown Bay is on the opposite side of Charlotte Amalie from Estate Thomas, so the ride is a drive through town rather than a quick hop. Taxis wait at the Crown Bay terminal for arriving passengers. Plan on roughly fifteen to twenty-five minutes, more when traffic through town is heavy.

On foot. We do not recommend walking from any of the three docks, especially if you are dealing with acute back, neck or leg pain. Havensight sits about a mile and a half from downtown Charlotte Amalie, a twenty-five to thirty minute walk, and our building is inland from that route rather than on it. Crown Bay is further still, on the far side of town. Veterans Drive, the road between them, is busy and its sidewalks run out in places. A taxi is the practical option from every dock.

Before you get in the taxi

Taxis here charge posted per-person rates rather than running a meter, so agree the fare with the driver before you get in. Call (340) 690-4994 before you leave the ship, if you can. Tell us your ship, when you need to be back aboard, and where you are coming from. We will have a sense of your timeline before you walk in, which matters if your all-aboard time is tight. If your ship is in port on a Saturday or Sunday, know that we are closed those days.

How we treat visitors at Tradewinds

Dr. Keys is the Chair of the Virgin Islands Board of Chiropractic Examiners, a member of the Virgin Islands Chiropractic Society, and the International Chiropractors Association representative for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Cruise passengers and other short-stay visitors are a regular part of who walks through our door, and the first visit is built to work with your schedule: a history, a hands-on exam, digital x-ray on site if the exam calls for it, and treatment the same visit when appropriate. See what to expect on a first visit for the full walkthrough, and hurt your back on vacation if pain, not directions, is the question you actually have.

When you should skip the taxi and go to the hospital instead

Some symptoms need faster or different care than a chiropractic visit. Go to the nearest hospital or call 911 if you have loss of bowel or bladder control, numbness in the groin or saddle area, worsening weakness in a leg or arm, back or neck pain after a serious fall or crash, or fever along with spine pain.

Questions patients ask

How do I get to a chiropractor from Havensight cruise port?

Take a taxi from the Havensight dock and ask for the VI Medical Foundation Building on Estate Thomas. It is a short ride, on the same side of Charlotte Amalie as the dock. Call (340) 690-4994 before you leave the ship so we know you are coming.

Is there a chiropractor near Crown Bay?

Yes. Tradewinds Chiropractic & Wellness is a drive across town from Crown Bay. Taxis wait at the terminal for arriving passengers. Call ahead and tell us your ship's all-aboard time.

Can I walk from the cruise port to your office?

We do not recommend it. Havensight is about a mile and a half from downtown Charlotte Amalie, a twenty-five to thirty minute walk, and our office sits inland from that route, so the trip on foot is longer than it looks. Crown Bay is further, on the far side of town. The road between them is busy and its sidewalks run out in places. Take a taxi from any dock, especially if you are dealing with back, neck or leg pain.

How far is Tradewinds Chiropractic from Yacht Haven Grande?

Yacht Haven Grande is next to Havensight, and the trip to our office is a short taxi ride, similar to coming from Havensight itself. Taxis are available along the marina.

What if my ship is only in port for a few hours?

Tell us your all-aboard time when you call. We plan the visit, including any x-rays, around getting you back to the ship on time. See hurt your back on vacation for more on how a single visit works for cruise passengers.
