Dr. Bradley Keys, DC: Chair of the Virgin Islands Board of Chiropractic Examiners

Dr. Bradley Keys is a Doctor of Chiropractic practicing in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. He has practiced on St. Thomas since 2015, was on the island through Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and opened Tradewinds Chiropractic & Wellness in April 2018, in the recovery after the storms. He has treated residents, boat crew and visitors across the U.S. Virgin Islands since. He also chairs the territory's chiropractic licensing board, a public role separate from running his own practice.

Who Dr. Bradley Keys is

Dr. Keys treats the everyday range of a chiropractic practice: back and neck pain, disc problems, sciatica, and the wear and strain that comes with island life, from charter crew hauling lines to visitors who walked more in a week here than in a month at home. Patients know him as Dr. Keys or Dr. Brad Keys around the office.

Opening a practice on St. Thomas about seven months after two hurricanes meant opening into a rebuild. Much of the island was still repairing roofs and boats, and a lot of the patients walking in that first year were themselves rebuilding a house or a boat at the same time they were rebuilding a back. Tradewinds has grown since into a practice with more than 180 five-star Google reviews and a patient base that spans residents, boat and charter crew, and visitors passing through for a week or a season. See the founding story for the fuller account.

Day to day, Dr. Keys examines every new patient himself before any care is recommended. That does not change because of the board role. A visit at Tradewinds is still built around a history, a hands-on exam, and a plan specific to what those two things actually show, the same as it was before he took on any territory-level responsibility.

Education, licensure and athletics

Dr. Keys earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from the University of Louisville in 2008, where he ran track on scholarship as a sprinter and hurdler. He went on to play for the USA men's national rugby team, the Eagles, in 2009 and 2010. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, in 2013. He is licensed to practice chiropractic in the U.S. Virgin Islands (license 85C).

What it means to chair the Virgin Islands Board of Chiropractic Examiners

The Virgin Islands Board of Chiropractic Examiners is the licensing board for chiropractors in the territory. It sets the standards for who may practice, handles licensing, and oversees the scope of chiropractic practice in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Chairing it is a public role, distinct from Dr. Keys' own patient care at Tradewinds. He served on the board as a member from 2022 to 2025 and became its Chair in 2026.

Board leadership does not change how a visit at Tradewinds runs. It means Dr. Keys is involved, at a territory level, in the standards every licensed chiropractor in the Virgin Islands is held to, including his own.

Other professional credentials

Dr. Keys is the Chair of the Virgin Islands Board of Chiropractic Examiners, a member of the Virgin Islands Chiropractic Society, and the International Chiropractors Association representative for the U.S. Virgin Islands. He has been Secretary of the Virgin Islands Chiropractic Society since 2021, and has sat on the International Chiropractors Association Representative Assembly for the U.S. Virgin Islands since 2022.

His postgraduate certifications include Primary Spine Practitioner (University of Pittsburgh, 2022), Certified Chiropractic Orthopedics (2025), Academy of Chiropractic Trauma Qualified and Hospital Qualified (2024 to present), MRI spine credentialing (2020), and a neuropathy certification from the American College of Physical Medicine Board (2017). If you are comparing chiropractors in the territory, these are the kinds of credentials worth asking any of them about. See how to choose a chiropractor in the USVI for more on what to look for.

What this means if you are choosing a chiropractor

Board leadership is not a treatment claim, and it does not mean every case gets the same result. What it does mean is that Dr. Keys' credentials are a matter of public record with the territory, not just a line on a website. If you are trying to decide between chiropractors in St. Thomas, that public accountability, alongside the training and licensing every chiropractor in the territory has to meet, is a reasonable thing to weigh alongside reviews and location.

If a case is outside what chiropractic care can help, Dr. Keys tells you plainly and refers you to an orthopedist, a neurologist, or the emergency room rather than continuing care that is not working. See when back pain is an emergency for the specific warning signs that mean you should skip a routine chiropractic visit and go straight to urgent or emergency care instead.
